3. What is a gamecent?

A gamecent is a virtual token exclusively for use at this site. Essentially, one gamecent is equal to one cent USD.

4. How can I preview a game?

Every game is explained in detail. Every game also features a video demonstration. And, newcomers are given 100 gamecents for free, which can be used to actually try things out.

5. How are gamecents purchased?

Gamecents are sold in bulk. 10 USD buys 1,000 gamecents. All payment goes through PayPal.

6. Is there an expiration date for each gamecent?

No, all gamecents can be used at anytime, as long as the site is running.

7. What is PayPal?

8. My account is no longer available?

From time to time, accounts that do not have any gamecent purchases attached to them and have not been used for a while will be deemed inactive and thus deleted from the system. If your account is no longer active, and you'd like to get back into the system, you're welcome to simply create another. Accounts with at least one purchase won't be affected.

9. What are the technical requirements to play the games?

All games are powered by Silverlight 3.0. This means everything runs in a Web browser such as Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and Apple Safari. And everything works on both PCs and Macs.

10. What is Silverlight?

Silverlight is a free browser add-on developed by Microsoft, similar to Adobe Flash. Silverlight enables you to run media-rich, highly-responsive, Internet-connected software applications, entirely in your browser, even applications that include animation, sounds, pixel effects and GPU acceleration. Silverlight is now at version 3.0. From a capabilities viewpoint, it is certainly more advanced than the latest iterations of Flash, JavaFx and others. 12. What happens if I leave the game area when in a game?

If you leave during a game by clicking on a hyperlink or by shutting down your browser, you'll simply forfeit the game with the fee paid.

13. What happens if I press the refresh of my browser?

Doing that will also end your game session the same way.

14. What games are available?

Gamecents.net is brand new, debuting in August 2009. Right now, the site offers chess, and xiangqi. In the near future, there'll be other classic board, card and puzzle games. Down the track, there are plans to include games with 3D like graphics and immersive sounds, along the lines of RTSs. More often than not, the focus will be on strategy type games that can be played against an AI in short sessions. If you'd like to suggest a game, you're welcome to do so.

15. Does the system keep score?

Scores and ranks are presented only to players who have purchased gamecents at least once.
